Big Sam on Big Sam "Only Houdini can do better than me"
When it comes to self-confidence there are a few who have more than West Ham manager Sam Allardyce it seems.

With his contract up for renewal at the end of the season and a host of potential candidates waiting in the wings, the boss blew his own trumpet at his pre-match press conference yesterday (Thursday).

“I have had a great time here, enjoyed myself and enjoyed London,” he said.

“I have done what I have been asked, which is to deliver a team, which this season has been the most successful, but also the most entertaining and the most thrilling.

“It is the youngest squad we have put together since I have been here.

“If you want someone else to do more than I have, then I think you have to be calling for Houdini!”

Speculation continues, but what sort of deal is Allardyce hoping for?

“It depends on the negotiations, there is a lot to talk about,” he said. “It is not just me, it is the staff as well, it is the new players and there is the budget.

“Where do we think we are going as a football club? Are we going in the right direction? – yes. Where do we want to go and how fast do we want to get there?”

With West Ham going into the Olympic Stadium at the end of next season, does the boss see himself walking out there? Well, yes he does.

“I wouldn’t have thought it would be any different than a two-year deal based on what we have done in the past – why would it?” he asked.

“The owners have been pretty consistent. It has been a two-year, two-year, two-year deal, so that is where it will start. But it is all speculation until we sit down to negotiate.”

Some have suggested that the endless speculation has affected the form of the players, but the boss denied that.

“I don’t think so,” he added. “I think the results have been about a lack of core players and while we have managed to overcome the injuries to Winston Reid and James Tomkins, in recent weeks the lack of goals has been a big factor.”

Allardyce will welcome centre-back Reid back into the squad for the clash with Everton tomorrow (Saturday) after he missed the last three games with a hamstring strain.

Alex Song and Nene will also be vying for a starting spot after both impressed off the bench in the 1-0 defeat by Aston Villa last weekend.

For the manager, it is all about trying to achieve their targets.

“We have just got to try and get past the 50-point mark,” he said. “We are all hugely disappointed that we are not on at least
54 points by now. We would be, but for throwing points away.

“We’re still suffering from injuries, but hopefully we will get a reprieve tomorrow, put the ball in the back of the net and win the last home game.”

Two more matches to go, and then for Allardyce, the real fun and games begin in the West Ham boardroom.

Even if Benitez,Bilic and Moyes don't want to come,I'd rather we went for a one or two years offer to Curbs or Redknapp than be forced to re-employ Allardyce.

L - Let's not exaggerate. He has said a few times now that to finish below 50 points and in the bottom half would be very disappointing.

Allardyce doesn't want to turn it around. In his world, everything's going just as he wants it. The self satisfied, arrogant, blinkered, fool that he is. What if he is forced to accept new players chosen by Sullivan again, but only selects his favourites? I see real problems with next season if he's here still.

Re: Big Sam on Big Sam "Only Houdini can do better than me"
If Sullivan is for some reason still considering keeping this cunt on then the question he needs to be asking himself is can BFS turn this around? Will signing a couple of more players and having a playing break really going to make much difference? Right now, we are a mess and look a long long way from being a decent side. Take this form into a new season and it wil be a very long one.

The biggest cunt in this planet,he has IMO divided our club like no other and if any of you think he is the answer you know fuck all about football!

OK, maybe we don't NEED him, but given the circumstances we could bloody well DO with him (and I'm no great fan of the Waiter myself).

We don't NEED him at all.

He is a much better alternative to Sam but he isn't the only alternative nor (in my opinion) nearly the best alternative

FOUR YEARS of BORING BOLLOCKS chewing gum on the sidelines like a disgusting, fat chavy oaf - boring the shit out of fans with dullard cunt football...

FOUR YEARS of LARD ARSE Nolan being a useless, fat arse, unfit cunt - pointing his finger at everyone and abusing referees and, once every ten games, perhaps scoring a goal...

Sick of it... Absolutely fucking sick of it...

Piss-off back to BOLTON WANDERERS you dreary, 1990s dinosaur, tinpot, clogger cunts...

Exactly - looking at it from a club point of view, we need Benitez and City don't.

Re: Big Sam on Big Sam "Only Houdini can do better than me"
Ah but Benitez will probably picture himself in a year's time becoming a world famous figure leading us out at the Olympic Stadium for the first time. He will be attracted to Sullivan and Gold's wealth too of course, with lots of bonuses thrown in. He won't get the hate from fans he had at Stamford Bridge either.

One year contract, decent team to take over and big money to spend without having to worry about the consequences? - seems a perfect match

Us on the other hand - not so much

Benitez to City? Don't see it myself.

Re: Big Sam on Big Sam "Only Houdini can do better than me"
He'd take a one year contract at City over a 4 year one here.

Whether he gets offered the City one is a different matter

Re: Big Sam on Big Sam "Only Houdini can do better than me"
I'm getting more optimistic Benitez will see us as an attractive option. The only other jobs in the PL he would prefer are Man City and Liverpool because his wife still lives on Merseyside with their two daughters. Rodgers is going nowhere and City have Guardiola as their priority replacement in a year's time.

If we throw in a Canary Wharf flat with his salary, he and his wife would probably find it a tempting way of life. She is running their charitable Foundation in Merseyside but I'm sure she has plenty of time on her hands to want to taste the London lifestyle.

This is beginning to look promising, lads!

Re: Big Sam on Big Sam "Only Houdini can do better than me"
Not only did he distroy the team that dismantled league champions Man City with such aplomb, he made those comments about "overachieving" before the Chelsea game.

The only question in my mind is whether he is incompetent or distroying it on purpose.

Pedro, there was only 1 bloke who goes who was backing him, Glenn Rodent, and even he wants him gone now.

Ron Antly lives in Oz, SOA lives in the backwaters of America somewhere, Dapablo lives in Cornwall and never goes to games, and who gives a fuck about Ernest Faulkner?

No regular attendee paying money wants him to stay.

Mr Polite 9:42 Sat May 16
Re: Big Sam on Big Sam "Only Houdini can do better than me"
Pedro

Ernest said he was open to debate - he isn't

He says he is part of the majority - he isn't

He says he is very intelligent - he isn't

I assume he doesn't go to games as I don't know one person that does go who still wants Sam to stay. Even some of his staunchest supporters have come round to believe he has to go.

2 more games mate, just two more games

Re: Big Sam on Big Sam "Only Houdini can do better than me"
Faulkner predicted 55 points, then revised it down to 52. I wonder what he thinks now.

Yep, very intelligent.

Re: Big Sam on Big Sam "Only Houdini can do better than me"
Anyone who thinks he should stay probably wasn't at West Brom away in the cup this year. A humiliating defeat against a team who I think have only one 1 or 2 since.
Something was very wrong that day and the fact the players were said to be tired didn't cut it for me.

I won't miss some of the following either:

Why is a hopeful cross into the box deemed attacking intent.

2 shots on goal is not creating lots of chances

Why do we get more injuries than everyone else and when we do it takes ages for players to get fit again.

Why did you change a winning team at Chelsea only for it ruin the momentum and form?

Re: Big Sam on Big Sam "Only Houdini can do better than me"
It's a bit rash to say "only" Houdini could do better. I do agree though that Houdini probably would have been a better manager of West Ham than Sam has been at times.
